The Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Hosur is an Eastern Catholic eparchy headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu , India , under the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church . It was established by Pope Francis on 10 October 2017, and Sebastian (Jobby) Pozholiparampil was appointed its first bishop. [1] Episcopal Ordination and Installation is on Wednesday, 22 November 2017, at 2.00pm at St. Antony's Syro-Malabar Cathedral Church Noothenchery.

The cathedral is St. Antony's Syro-Malabar Cathedral Church Noothenchery and the Chancellery will be at St. Thomas Pastoral Centre Ayanavaram .

The Chennai Mission was Established in 1983 and entrusted under the pastoral care of the irinjakakuda diocese, the Chennai mission has completed 25 years of glorious services for the syro Malabar community in Chennai and the society at large. Fulfilling the will of god. The Chennai mission has been in forefront of social and community services aimed at the overall development and upliftment of the downtrodden coupled with the spiritual and moral well being of its own faithful through its various activities. The Chennai Syro-Malabar Mission was established in 1983 and it was entrusted to Mar James Pazhayattil, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda by the Syro-Malabar Bishop's Conference. This Mission is founded on the teaching of ll Vatican Council that every individual Sui Juris churches should maintain their cultural and ecclesial identity as well as the liturgical and spiritual patrimony. Therefore the first and important task of this mission is to look after the pastoral needs of the Syro-Malabar Catholics in Chennai.
The Syro Malabar Church is not a linguistic based community rather It is an Oriental (Eastern Rite) Catholic church, in full communion with the Church of Rome.
